Week 5: My reflections!

Some say "a picture is worth a thousands words" Would this Teddy bear express my feelings?

Well! I like so much to read all the posts and the comments in our nicenet classroom. Reading and examining my colleagues' work makes me think deeply. Many thanks!

I think the first PBL discussion was interesting! I like the WebQuests method a lot! For me it is basically an online project! I believe that WebQuest can work pretty well at my classes! But of course I need a well equipped computer lab to implement the wonderful methods that I am examining and experiencing here in this Web course.

I like so much the experience of creating an online rubric! I always use rubrics in my lessons especially for projects and class tasks. But creating one online rubric is an enjoyable experience that saves me dealing with word tables… I also saved and bookmarked most of the rubrics/sites of my colleagues.

It is really nice that in each week we are given a real life task! Deborah asks us questions that demand HOTS (higher-order thinking skills). Well, it is nice to read about the suggestions and solutions of the online issues that we talked about last week! It just makes us think deeply of what may or may not work at our teaching setting…this way we weigh the advantages and disadvantages of implementing the discussed methods.

Best regards,
Khuloud.

  1. Hi Khuloud,

I agree that Webquests will work well in most classes. It was so interesting to see the variety of webquests produced this week and the variety of rubrics produced as well. We can learn a lot from each other, as you said.

I have to ask you - how did you put the hugging teddy bear up on your blog?

    Thank you,

    Janet

  2. Dear Janet,

Yes! Wonderful WebQuests too… I think we learn fast!

Here is the instruction for uploading a picture:
Click on New Post upper right side and a window opens it has the titles: New Posting- Edit Pages-Comment Moderation. The second line you find a space to type the title of your post then you have some tools-icons- click on the second one from the right side (the picture of scenery) a window will open and upload your file there. You can use the other tools too…

    Best,
    Khuloud.

  3. Dear Khuloud,
Thanks a lot for the lovely teddy bear picture. Very cute. Though I was expecting a lioness instead of a bear;-)

And I do hope your school will provide you with the neceesary technological equipment to implement the "wonderful" things we're learning in this course.
    Best of lucks.

  5. Hi Victor,

Say hello to your lovely son! You see "a picture is really worth a million words"! He could "read" the picture and share me my happiness!

Yes, I like group work a lot! Sometimes my students ask me to do the exam as a group! I say "I agree but you have to divide the points equally!!". Actually, in principle I wouldn't mind give them an exam to do in groups! But I want them practice doing exams for their finals (washback effect!!).

Well, another advantage of group work is that the students learn a lot from each other! Sometimes they can explain to each other points even better than me… and when they "copy" from each other they also learn. But it is important to come well prepared to class when you work in groups… if not the lesson won't work well.

    Yours,
    Khuloud.
